WHY IRISH DANCE?
Irish dancing has evolved tremendously since Riverdance took the world by storm in the 90s. Now, people all over the world are discovering the magic that is Irish dance: the lively music, the challenging yet engaging steps and the incredible workout you'll discover as soon as you step foot into your first class! Whether you're looking for a fun, enriching activity for your child or are an adult who has never danced before, there's something for everyone at District Irish Dance Academy!
WHY DISTRICT ACADEMY?
We offer exciting Irish dance opportunities for all ages - fostering recreational, performance and competitive tracks. We set ourselves apart by staying true to our 3 tenets of success:
Technique - All classes teach level-appropriate technical elements, enhancing fitness and promoting self confidence. Our instructors are renowned Irish dance professionals so you’ll get the opportunity to work with the most qualified teaching team possible.
Teamwork - We nurture and encourage students to support and build up another, creating a team-oriented community in Washington DC who are passionate about Irish dance.
Tradition - Our programs are rooted in a rich tradition of celebrating Irish dance, music and heritage. We also seek to preserve and strengthen Irish cultural ties in Washington, DC and the greater DMV area.
WHO CAN DANCE?
Our core belief is that everyone can (and should!) dance. For kids, Irish dance helps develop motor skills, contributes to fitness, and promotes teamwork and confidence. For school ages, Irish dance is perfect for motivated students who want to both learn an amazing art form and be challenged athletically. Irish dance has also proven extremely valuable for students to stand out as they apply for colleges, and many dancers seek professional opportunities. For adults, learning Irish dance offers a deep sense of community and a fun experience to get a great workout, learn a cultural art form and make new friends.
